Kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, vocational schools, technical institutes and universities: the demand for specific flooring systems suitable for this sector is growing exponentially, and IPM Italia, one of the major national players for the production and installation of continuous resin floors for indoors and natural grit floors for outdoors floors for industrial, commercial and residential sectors, which has been offering systems and solutions, even tailor-made, and always attentive to the intended use, for over forty years has been involved in numerous construction sites located throughout the national territory. Approximately 20.000 square meters of resin flooring produced and laid in the national school building sector.
“Resin is a versatile material and has also proved to be very suitable for the school environment: it is safe, quick to install, resistant, customizable, hygienic and a design solution. Additionally, it is ideal for redevelopment, because it can be laid on pre-existing floors, even if they are deteriorated, without any preventive demolition. Summer is undoubtedly the best time to proceed with the renovation of school buildings. Our resin floors are quick to lay and offer dust-proof, hygienic and zero-emission surfaces. They can be completely free of joint thanks to special floor-wall connections. In addition, IPM Sanix can be added for grater hygiene and surface protection. This additive makes surfaces more hygienic and protected from external agents, characteristics that remain unchanged even after repeated washing and prolonged use over time”, Andrea Penati, CEO e Technical director of IPM Italia explains.
There are many advantages using IPM Italia resin solutions: they allow you to create continuous horizontal and vertical surfaces between the floor and the wall, making bathrooms or kitchens easy to sanitize; they resist mechanical stress; they are easy and fast to wash. Formulated in internal laboratories, IPM Italia’s resin solutions are breathable and are all characterized by solvent-free formulations with zero VOC emissions.
“We have several works in progress in school environments: a remarkable worksite is a school in Alassio, in Savona, where we are laying 2.400 m² of IPM Aquaperm® Design in all classroom, bathrooms and cafeterias. IPM Italia has a network of sellers and trusted teams distributed throughout the Italian territory, and we are able to follow every phase of the construction site, from design to installation”, continues Penati.
Cafeterias, classrooms, corridors, play areas: the right flooring system for every environment
The IPM Italia resin flooring line complies with all regulations and is therefore ideal for all environments, including cafeterias and break rooms. IPM Italia has specific HACCP systems for the food sector, which guarantee a very high level of hygiene, and decorative solutions that guarantee an high aesthetic result, also suitable for the little ones, thanks to the possible customization of the covering with geometric gams, figures and colors that stimulate the creativity of the students.
Continuous resin flooring systems represent the best solution for the redevelopment of school complexes:
- Safe, because they have a continuous surface without joints;
- Fast, because they can be installed in few days or on pre-existing surfaces and are ready to be used;
- Resistant to scratches and scuffs due to movement of desks and chairs, as well as foot traffic;
- Customizable with designs and geometric games thanks to the wide availability of colors;
- Hygienic, because the absence of joints makes them easier to clean;
- Ideal for redevelopment because they can be laid on pre-existing floors, even deteriorated ones, without the need for preventive demolition.
IPM Italia resin systems and school projects
IPM Silentia: Safety and silence for the kindergartens of Terento
IPM Silentia is the self-levelling polyurethane system resistant to abrasions, incisions and scratches that reduces the acoustic impact generated by foot traffic, resulting effective for creating environments where concentration and study are encouraged. Available in matte and glossy finish, IPM Silentia ensures excellent results and soft and enveloping visual impact. It was used in the educational center conceived and created by the Austrian studio Feld72, the kindergarten of Terento, a project with an innovative architectural content that responds to all the needs of its younger guests: the modern design, the large spaces and the brightness create a place of continuous learning, very different from the traditional concept of teaching within the classrooms. Thanks to the flexibility and elasticity of the material, IPM Silentia guarantees the reduction of the acoustic impact in the environments in which it is installed. For the lining of the internal walls of the kindergarten rooms, in a perfect functional and aesthetic alchemy between floors and vertical walls, the IPM Aquaperm® Ceramix glaze was applied.
Also made ith zero VOC products and characterized by cutting-edge hydrodispersion technology and high chemical and mechanical resistance, IPM Aquaperm® offers a satin and bright finish and a remarkable resistance to high levels of humidity, satisfying the needs of sanitizing environments.
IPM Aquaperm ® Design. Technology, innovation and creativity – the city of children and kids and the university of Milano Luiss Hub Projects
IPM Aquaperm® Design is the water-dispersed and transpiring resinous system. Suitable for medium-high foot traffic, it has good mechanical characteristics and a pleasant aesthetic appearance. It was used to create the play areas of The City of Children and Kids – at the Geona Aquarium – where the resin has been laid to its maximum creative potential, to recreate beach islets immersed in the sea. A project of over 2.000 m² developed by Filmmaster Events and Costa Edutainment SpA.
IPM Aquaperm® Design it also ideal for new, uncured or damp concrete floor. Its advanced hydrodispersion technology is based on a microporous structure that generates an osmosis process, thanks to which the humidity of the substrate is released into the environment, always ensuring optimal adhesion of the flooring. No bubbles, cracks or peeling issues and, thanks to the water-based composition, VOC emissions are very low or even zero. IPM Aquaperm® Design contributes to obtaining LEED credits. It was also chosen for the MILANO LUISS HUB university school, designed by the Florentine studio Fabbricanove Architetti. In the spatula-effect version, it has enhanced the concrete present in all classrooms, hallways, study rooms, guaranteeing a modern-industrial effect of great aesthetic impact.
Not just interiors. IPM Italia offers a wide range of safe and eco-friendly outdoor flooring
Draining in natural grit, IPM Geo Drena® is the flooring chosen by Studio Mario Cucinella Architects for the Gabelli School in Montebelluna. It is the system that guarantees an ideal flooring for children, a flooring that is always dry and non-slip.
Thanks to the different natural colors of the aggregates in marble, quartz, porphyry and serpentine, it allows the creation of geometric design and games, as the flooring project created for a kindergarten in Switzerland, where IPM Italia laid walkways decorated with flowers and butterflies.
IPM Gummy, anti-trauma and non-slip flooring for play areas and IPM Freetime. Eco-friendly system for cycle-pedestrian paths and sports areas
IPM Gummy is the specific solution for pay areas: it is an anti-shock and anti-slip flooring system that guarantees a soft impact if someone falls. This system is easy to sanitize, offers a draining and permeable surface, resists to high and frost temperatures and is easily accessible even for wheelchairs. IPM Gummy is customizable thanks to the many colors available (as RAL color chart).
IPM Freetime is the eco-friendly system developed for outdoor sports facilities and cycle-pedestrian paths. Its particular formulation based on specific resinous products allows it to be used both as new continuous flooring and for old substrates restoration: IPM Freetime can be applied as a coating on both new and old asphalt substrates as long as they are intact and cohesive. IPM Freetime offers the right degree of non-slip grip, a high degree of elasticity and coefficient of restitution (bounce), as well as a high resistance to thermal shocks.
