Xilografia Pole NewHabits

Pole and New Habits, winners of the Supra Dream contest, were able to find an important consensus during Edit, the innovative design fair, which aims to give a voice to the new generations of designers, ready to challenge traditional production chains and distribution. The two projects express the break with the past to the maximum, for this reason they were selected by the jury of Supra Dream, the award conceived by the designer Matteo Ragni and launched by the Milanese brand Xilografia, historical point of reference in the design of exhibition stands and bespoke furnishings.

Paolo Stefano Gentile, the designer of Pole and Luca Magistrali, Alberto Massara, Marco Merafina, Alice Platania and Giacomo Quinland, the creators of New Habits, were able to respond to the challenge launched by the Supra Dream contest: to create new flexible furnishing elements and based on vertical development, to optimize space in modern homes.

Pole

Pole is a filing system that exploits the height and the fixing system between the floor and the ceiling to create a useful piece of furniture for the entrance area, formed by a central pole – coat hanger or umbrella stand – and by a large volume, capable of transforming itself into a comfortable raised and dematerialized storage space thanks to the use of mirrored surfaces. With its extreme versatility, Pole can adapt to ceilings with a height from 2.70 to 3.10 meters.

New Habits

The New Habits room divider tackles the problem of space in a different way, but always keeping the gaze turned upwards: with this project, the designers have deliberately tackled the issue of cohabitation, taking advantage of the height to create a new piece of furniture capable of revolutionizing the use of space, combining the function of a wardrobe with a relaxation/work station at height. In this sense, design becomes the enabler of a unique experience, capable of raising people’s point of view and radically changing their perception of space.

In the future of interior design, knowing how to optimize space will be an essential constraint. Only by being able to take advantage of all the available space, even vertically, will it be possible to adapt the house to the needs of the different moments of the day.

Edit wants to be the home of contemporary design and is therefore the ideal place to celebrate the victory of two projects that have been able to stand out precisely for the ability to read the needs of today’s living spaces, creating furnishing accessories that are perfectly in step with the times. Pole and New Habits are part of an avant-garde design category, capable of rethinking the residential space according to the needs of the end user.

Xilografia Nuova

Born as a Xylography Milanese in the 1930s, in the Morivione district of the Lombard capital, it was transformed into a Xylography Nuova in 1981, reorganizing its resources and making new investments to enhance its productivity. In 1996 it expanded its offices in Milan and created the production site in Bistagno, in the province of Alessandria, to meet the ever-increasing needs of its customers. It thus becomes a reference point in the sector, thanks to the desire for innovation and the awareness of its own creative force.

Xilografia is a leading company in exhibition stands, event preparation and museum installations. It also deals with shop and office furnishing, furnishing and window dressing and showroom.

In recent years, the company has been exploring new areas of design and construction of bespoke furniture but not only, obtaining the consent of those in the sector who appreciate the quality and research of detail, as well as the ability to propose innovative solutions thanks to the strong “know-how” gained in almost 90 years of activity.
