The sound and the new vision of spaces. The ambient acquires different identity, it changes depending on the auditive dimension where you discover it. A room fills by the chatter of the people doesn’t offer the same experience of a totally empty space characterized by the echo.
Sometimes sound prevails over the surrounding area, its intensity is so much high to cause damage to the environment or to people’s health. Paying attention to the relevance of sound is an urgency to consider. Giving a room the right atmosphere is possible by making a few adjustments.
The noise pollution and the sound education have an increasing importance. The constant presence of sound perceived by our ears is often underestimated, especially in the city areas. Sound knowledge becomes a form of prevention and protection for the hearing.
Costant and disturbing noise causes noxious effects on the activity and health of people, animals and worsens the condition of existence of the surrounding areas.
Eterno Ivica, in collaboration with Pleiadi, an Italian organization who focuses its activity on STEAM Education, elaborates an educational project oriented to children in order to give them information of sound for the first time.
The Phonolook Acoustics’ experts of Eterno Ivica have made their knowledge of sound and its propagation available to the project. The starting point to obtain a better health and to live a different life set about understanding and learning all about useful technologies to protect human hearing and to offer better living experiences.
At the heart of the project is hearing awareness. An experience oriented towards education and knowledge for the protection of ears well-being during the school age. Prevention passes through consciousness of materials and useful technologies, designed to preserve it.
The educational project involved more than 500 children, coming from primary school in the province of Verona, Padua, Venice and Vicenza in a real journey to discover the secrets of sound.
A path organized through interactive didactics with experiments, practical demonstrations, construction sets and hearing tests. Due to the defined way, children learned the difference between sounds, vibrations and noises.
We worked on the physical perception of sound: its propagation inside the body and its subsequent translation into an electrical impulse which later is processed by the brain.
The awareness of your own hearing inside a specific space can be the turning point in defining a quality relationship with sound. Learning terms such as sound insulation and sound absorption and the technologies that improved acoustic measurement in the areas is connected to a new vision of oneself as a listener.
The last 12th May, at the Children’s Museum in Verona, the final event of the first workshops series of “Eterno Ivica for Kids” project was held. Eterno Ivica and Pleiadi’s team transformed the museum into a real lab, hosting a classroom of the primary school De Amicis of Verona.
The interactive activities, proposed and guided by Pleiadi’s Explaneir, a specialized operator, were focused on knowledge of sound, sound-absorbing and sound insulation technologies. During the event an illustrious guest took part: Andrea Giuliacci, Physicist and Meteorologist Meteo Expert and Professor of Physics of the Atmosphere at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Bicocca, who deepened issues related to noise pollution.
The path achieved resounding success by the teachers involved and allows Eterno Ivica to spread considerable technical information able to improve children life experience.
It is inevitable having an auditive identity inside an environment, everyone must decide how to handle it. Sound affects people in different ways, depending on the intended use of the spaces, the activities performed within and the personalities of each one. The perception of sound is unique, but the methods of counteracting it are multiple and improve everyone’s mental, cognitive and physical situation.
