Eterno Ivica and the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Built Environment of the Politecnico di Milano together for the prototype of the “Smart Home”.

The concept of living, especially in recent years also due to the global crisis and the pandemic lockdown, has profoundly changed adapting to new economic and social circumstances, with the aim of seeking new alternative and sustainable horizons for the future.

From this approach comes the cHOMgenius project created by the DABC of the Politecnico di Milano and partially financed by the Smart Living Project of the Lombardy Region, in partnership with BFC Sistemi, WHITEAM srl, the collaboration of UNI (Italian National Unification Body) and the fundamental support of 20 national and international companies including Eterno Ivica, which supplied its soundabsorbing panels and adjustable supports for the raised floor outside the building.

The idea stems from the desire to recover disused maritime containers used for the transport of goods to obtain structural modules adaptable to every need and completely combinable. This approach fully embraces the recycling and reuse of materials, transforming a problem (disused containers) into a resource.

The metal “box” thus becomes the supporting skeleton of the housing unit that has nothing to do with the concept of “prefabricated” typical of emergency homes. The components combine to create a modular, flexible and adaptable space for different functions and needs.

In this scenario, the selected products of Eterno Ivica have been of great contribution to pursue these objectives; Pedestal supports, indeed, perfectly respond to the concept of “recycling” as they derive from 100% recycled plastic and they are also recyclable at the end of their life.

Phonolook soundabsorbing panels, on the other hand, create a high acoustic comfort capable of creating an internal environment of pleasure and wellbeing. Limiting noise by acting on reverberation, while eliminating disturbing sounds to the human hearing, is the main goal of Phonolook panels.

We are proud to have participated in this project which aims to be fully integrated into a circular economy system: the environmental impact is in fact reduced to 50% CO2 compared to a traditional building.
