Sedute a forma di bolla

Soap bubbles represent one of the oldest pastimes in history; they are born from a light breath and are so ephemeral, shiny and transparent, to arouse amazement and beauty in those who admire them. Sga-bubble is a project inspired by soap bubbles: three shiny seats/bubbles emerge from three inclined pipes, welded to a central pole culminating with a luminous element. It is an object with a playful shape designed for places where the individual is forced to spend a lot of time, a project born to lighten the boredom of waiting.

Design in waiting areas

The waiting areas, such as railway stations, airports, places of worship, shopping malls, are spaces for a break, where the individual is forced to stop. These spaces of uncertainty represent moments of encounter and exchange between individuals but also of individual reflection, of bond between thoughts and emotions. The design intended for these spaces is generally characterized by multi-seat benches, multiple seats, long, wavy benches with various and original shapes, namely projects designed to welcome groups of users unknown to each other.

The advantage of these systems is to encourage socialization, but often the paradox occurs: users, in moments of pause, prefer to be alone, individually occupying entire benches intended for several people and discouraging, with closing attitudes, the sharing of their own space with unknown people. The spaces of aggregation thus become spaces of solitude and dispersion.

The project

Sga-bubble is a three-seater seat where each seat is distant from the other according to a rotation of 120 ° with respect to a central axis. In this way, three different users will have the opportunity to sit together while remaining inside their own space.

Red bubble-shaped chairs

It is a three-seat stool intended for those places, such as airports, stations, urban parks, etc., where the individual is “forced” to stop. It is a static object because it promotes the users’ stay but at the same time is dynamic because it welcomes the user in different postures assumed in the waiting condition.

The seats are placed at three different heights: the first at a height of 50 cm from the walking surface to offer the user a comfortable position during a prolonged wait; the second is placed at a height of 70 cm and with an inclination of 10 ° with respect to the horizontal to allow the user to get up quickly. Ideal, therefore, for those moments in which the waiting time is indefinite; the third seat is positioned at 90 cm from the floor and is rotated 80 ° with respect to the horizontal, therefore it presents as a simple support for the back, ideal for short stops where there is no time to sit .

Sga-bubble is an object that materializes the idea of waiting by breaking down and reassembling the latter into three distinct moments and, like a futurist work, manages to preserve the visual image of dynamism.

Materials

Sga-bubble is a prototype with a stainless steel supporting structure formed by a hollow pole on which three supports, also hollow, inclined at 45 ° are welded. The seats, inserted into the supports by means of a hole, are perfect hemispheres made of painted MDF. The base is made up of a steel disk (fixed to the floor by bolts) covered by an ABS shell. The pole ends with a lamp of the same diameter.

Dimensions

It has an overall height of 120 cm, the seats have a diameter of 30 cm while the base has a diameter of 40 cm.
