In Cosenza, the architect Domenico De Rito designs a flat with the material of light. The apartment is on the fifth floor of a building with a tree-lined avenue.
The entrance welcomes a square space, an antique round table, a fine display of floral fragrances and photographic frames. On the left, the dining room strategically adjacent to the kitchen and then the reception room that looks with large and bright openings towards the historic center of Cosenza on the right, a horizontal path distributes the other access to the kitchen, the TV space, the services and the sleeping area.
Visiting it, the natural light, the wooden flooring and the white painting of the walls, boiserie and doors stand out.
The project developed by the De Rito studio is an incisive restyling that reinterprets the spaces and furnishings of the apartment with creativity; the lighting project was conceived with warm, welcoming and embracing light, showing its quality in the absence of natural light.
Architect Domenico De Rito says: << each of my projects is a story that matures slowly; the comparison with the client, a very refined and present woman, was pleasant >>.
In the living room on one wall, three rhythmic shelves have been designed and built over the entire length, where the lighting products (Viabizzuno), recessed and camouflaged by the same colour, have been placed in several points.
The carefully designed wood paneling is placed between the wooden flooring and the walls, even the carved frames of the paintings and the doors respect the colour.
In the kitchen, the white majolicas marked by wooden planks solve the flooring and the ceiling in an original way, the lighting products (Artemide) discreetly let themselves be appreciated, an “island” formed by a storage unit and a table with four high seats determines spaces and comfort of use, in the hectic and fast daily life now even on weekends.
From the living room, a vertical path with a polished steel structure, on a theme like the door handles and the solid wood tread, reaches the next floor; a welcoming space allows access to the winter garden by expanding the apartment. It is the relaxation area, a transparent container with glass walls and roof, wooden flooring, lighting products (Viabizzuno), warm-colored sofas, a steel table designed with lamps and furnishings in refractory clay on display; there is also a big bonsai and other succulents, a simply fascinating space that makes dream and see the stars.
Arch. De Rito states again: << natural light cannot be artificially reproduced, during the solar year it is never the same, it changes temperature depending on the season, time and sky conditions. The most comfortable environments are those in which these changes are perceived, the light comes violently without being reflected even though it is inside and this winter garden, thanks to its transparency, is a space where you can think and experience emotions >>.
The remaining space of the terrace is intended as a solarium amidst water, vegetation, shade and seating with the sun radiating throughout the day, with a pleasant and dominant view of the city.
